Dear Colleague,

We are very pleased that you have registered for the Vienna World Conference, and look forward to seeing you in Vienna soon.

Vienna is a wonderful venue for a conference, full of history and culture. To take advantage of the fact that we are in Vienna this year, ICDE has on request decided to organize a very special dinner for our conference participants. The dinner takes place in one of the historical palaces of the former Habsburg nobility. All conference participants are invited on a first come first served bases, since places are limited in the Ferstel Palace. It is an excellent opportunity for socializing with fellow participants, and for experiencing the historical atmosphere of Vienna.

This unique evening will be offered to you in one of the most wonderful historic palaces of Vienna, the Ferstel Palace, located in the very center of Vienna within walking distance to St. Stephen´s Square, the State Opera and the City Hall. The Ferstel Palace was built between 1856 and 1860 in the style known as "historicism" and houses the world famous "Café Central". This magnificent coffeehouse was the meeting place for scholars, artists, politicians, writers and well to do merchants such as Victor Adler, Peter Altenberg, Adolf Loos, Friedrich Torberg and Stefan Zweig.

The evening starts with a cocktail, which will be served in the Palace Arcades of Venetian style. You will then ascend the Festive Staircase of the Palace to the magnificent staterooms on the first floor where a 4-course dinner (typical Viennese food!) will be served accompanied by first class Viennese musical entertainment.

The well-known Viennese "Jugend und Stil" Ball Orchestra will provide the musical entertainment throughout the evening. This is an orchestra of 14 young and enthusiastic professional artists who will play Viennese music following the classical Viennese tradition of balls (the repertoire emphasizes dances such as waltz, polka, march and tango composed by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehar, Robert Stolz and some more famous Viennese composers.

Dark suit for men/cocktail dress for ladies is requested.

Not many cities in the world offer an opportunity for an evening such as this. We would be very pleased to welcome you and your spouse at this special event.
