European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU) Workshop

Workshop on the outcomes of EADTU's Socio-Economic Working Group and on the results of the DUNE project.

EADTU will organise a workshop around the outcomes of EADTU's Socio-Economic Working Group and the results of the DUNE project.
Thus, major themes in contemporary Distance Education in Europe will be addressed, such as: - strategic issues; - the Distance Teaching market; - socio-economic matters; - the development of Electronic Learning Environments; - pedagogical questions related to the design of Virtual Learning Environments etc.

Experts from Socio-Economic Working Group will give presentations and examples of good practice will be demonstrated. Furthermore, a panel discussion will be organised.

 

The Socio-Economic Working Group

The Socio-Economic Working Group is established in 1997 and is chaired by Prof. Dr. Gerhard E. Ortner of the FernUniverstat Hagen. The group is composed of experts in economics and sociology and aim
to consider the larger socio-economic implications of potential expansion and innovation of systems of higher distance education and open and flexible learning.

 

The DUNE  project

DUNE: Distance Education Network of Europe, is a project coordinated by the EADTU, in the framework of Thematic Networks in the Socrates Program from the European Commission. The Dune Project aims to make an inventory of issues that hinder Europe-wide delivery of courses and curricula and gather solutions designed and practiced in different situations. The project is in the third year now, focusing
of dissemination of the results.
