Challenges To Effective Application Of Examination In 0rganizing Nigerian Universities Distance Education Science Programmes

In organizing University Distance Science Programmes in developingcountries like Nigeria, it has been very difficult and insecure tosuccessfully conduct examinations for the students. The reasonincludes among other factors, inability of the organizers to send andreceive within a convenient and specific tome feedback from thestudents through radio, television broadcasting or correspondenceeducation system. Other reasons include poor science infrastructuralor examination facilities due to the high cost of materials and poorstudent's support services due to the wrong attitude of the studentsand media controllers to choice of money making activities thanscientifically educating the students. Unhealthy political,psychological administrative, geographical, economic and secret cult orreligious activities which had prevailed on the examination has alsobeen identified. Provision of the needed facilities and sufficientfunding through government approved science exchange programmes ortransnational communication companies cooperation, and research,decreeing and encouraging amongs our people more of a reading and doingculture; improving the welfare packages and their continouos generalreorientation are hereby recommended as solutions to the challenges.
