Description IMG00014.gif

The image shows a four-dimensional space: top=open, bottom=closed; left=traditional; right=new. In the bottom-left part of the image is "university", thus being traditional and closed. Three arrows start from this field:

  1. one goes up to the top-left part of the picture, where the 'open university studies' are located, thus being traditional but open.
  2. one goes to the bottom-right part, here the "university projects" are located, being new and closed.
  3. one goes across from the bottom-left to the top-right part of the picture, where it says "open and flexible learning", being new and open.
Also from the top-left and from the bottom-right positions arrows are drawn to the top-right, indicating that - to sum it up - from the traditional, closed university there are three paths to the new and open "open and flexible learning":
  1. taking a detour thrugh the open university studies,
  2. taking a detour through university projects and
  3. going there directly.
