Welcome to Vide the Virtual Institute for Distance Education!
VIDE aims at
  • making available new (and old) information on distance education to a wider public;
  • researching matters inherent to distance education subjects, mainly through projects by VIDE members, the intermediate and final reports of which are to be published here;
  • making available relevant information resources to a broader public and
  • facilitating the communication and cooperation of members who share current work.

There are thus two distinct spheres for the work of this institute: public and private. You read here the "open to the public" part where intermediate and final project reports, news, elements for an open course in Distance Education and links to valuable resources or political issues relevant for DE development will be published. Papers will be published in this part as well, if there has been public financing. The aim of such publication policy is to "copyleft" all research - we think that building a knowledge society may not be restricted by copyright procedures. If public money went into research there is no reason why the results should be privatized. Nonetheless a 'private' part will be necessary for the net-based cooperation of members sharing the current work which is not yet ready to be published. Click here to send us an email message
