Helmut Fritsch: WITNESS - LEARNING |
|
Abstract
Learning takes place in the central nervous system of a learner: all settings where learning is thought to be brought about are organizational, social, economical structures in different societies for the benefit of learning, in the hope that it will happen: Even in World-Wide Web based learning offerings this holds true. Distance education has been thought to be a setting where the best learning outcome can be produced by highly structured learning material ( that can be mass-produced) together with highly individualized tutorial effort. The article shows that even in a virtual seminar structures comparable to a classroom situation may be seen as relevant for the learning process: So the ideology of distance education will be enriched by the fact that most learners even in a virtual seminar setting prefer „witness learning".
