Primitive equations of the ocean and the atmosphere are considered to be a fundamental model for many geophysical flows. In this talk the primitive equations with temperature and salinity are considered in L^p. This coupled system consists of velocity equations similar to the Navier-Stokes equations and diffusion equations for temperature and salinity. Existence and uniqueness of strong solutions is discussed for arbitrarily large data where initial values lie in certain interpolation spaces which are characterized in terms of boundary conditions.
