The cluster is examining our transformation towards a circular economy from a social, economic and governance perspective. Its key focus is on the issues of resource conservation, climate protection, competitiveness and resilience as well as the political, legal and institutional frameworks for this transformation.
- Transformation to a circular economy and its contributions to resource conservation, climate protection and securing supplies of raw materials
- Political, legal and institutional framework conditions and governance of the circular economy
- Production and consumption patterns, waste avoidance and recycling, repair and refurbishment
- Designing and managing material flows and circular value chains within companies, networks and regions
- Circular business models, including sharing, service and usage models
- The role of digitalization in the circular economy (e.g., data, AI, platforms) and the associated opportunities, risks and governance issues
- Social acceptance, stakeholder constellations and distributional effects of the transformation
- Material flow and sector-specific analyses (e.g., textiles, plastics, electronics; from international to local authority level
