DigiTeam – Shaping Teams in Digital Working Environments

The objective of the research project is to generate scientific findings and practical design tips for collaborations in hybrid work teams. It involves analyzing various approaches to collaboration already employed in existing hybrid work teams and correlating them with different success criteria. One particular focus will be on social resources that have repeatedly proven to be problematic in the context of hybrid collaborations

The findings will form the foundation for design guidelines aimed at offering concrete, practical recommendations on designing digital collaborations within hybrid work teams. To address the research question, the team will employ a multi-method approach incorporating qualitative and quantitative elements, which will be executed in three distinct phases. In the first phase, In the first phase, an evaluation is carried out at the practice partners. To this end, a short questionnaire will be used to assess the status of the participating teams in terms of cooperation, social resources, commitment and the perceived meaningfulness of their work. In the second phase, guideline interviews will be conducted to investigate how teams structure their hybrid collaboration. These interviews will explore the origins of these structuring approaches, whether they were guided or independent, and assess their sustainability over time. The findings gathered in phases 1 and 2 will be used to compare successful and less successful teams in terms of the outcomes mentioned. This process will aid in identifying the key success factors in structuring hybrid working situations. The outcomes will be leveraged to develop guidelines for designing collaboration within hybrid work teams.
