Closing Conferenceof the ZiF-Research Group Global Contestations of Gender and Women's Rights from March 10-12, 2022 at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) in Bielefeld.
At this conference, the research group will take a closer look at the central patterns and common elements in global conflicts over gender rights and
discuss the ambivalences and tensions between the rights achieved and their contestations. We would like to particularly emphasize the keynotes of
Shirin Rai (University of Warwick) entitled "Unknowers and Unknowing: why does the importance and costs of unpaid labor continue to be overlooked in global policy frameworks?"
and Nadje Al-Ali (Brown University) entitled "Beyond Backlash: Reflections on Global Feminist Contestations."
