The airports closest to Hagen are Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Köln/Bonn:

  • The nearest airport is Dortmund (external link: www.dortmund-airport.de). From there you take the shuttle bus to Holzwickede Station and change to a local train to Hagen. The airport shuttle bus to Holzwickede Station costs around 3 Euros. It is about 20 minutes trainride from there to Hagen main station.
  • The next larger airport is in Düsseldorf (external link: www.duesseldorf-international.de). It is about 1 - 1.5 hours trainride from Düsseldorf airport to Hagen main station. Please note that Düsseldorf airport has two train stations: (a) the train station "Terminal S" in the basement of the terminal building serving some local trains and the regular train station "Düsseldorf Flughafen" accessible by sky train.
  • Another large airport is in Cologne/Bonn (external link: www.koeln-bonn-airport.de). It is about 1 - 1.5 hours trainride from the station "Köln/Bonn Flughafen" to Hagen main station.

For Dortmund and Düsseldorf we recomment to use the Journey Planer from www.vrr.de/en/ using the values "Dortmund Airport/Terminal" and "Düsseldorf Flughafen", respectively, for the from-field and "Hagen Hbf" for the to-field. It will give you a connection using local trains. The required ticket fee from Düsseldorf is around 12 Euros for a level D ticket.
