Talk by Hanne Van Den Bosch
On May 3rd, 2023, Hanne Van Den Bosch (University of Chile, Chile) gave a talk about "Boundary conditions for self-adjoint Dirac operators and applications to graphene" as part of the online workshop on "Dirac equation between discrete and continuous: new trends and applications" organized by Ginestra Bianconi (Queen Mary University of London) and Delio Mugnolo (FernUniversität in Hagen).
Abstract
The topic of this talk is the Dirac operator on a domain in the plane. We analyse the possible boundary conditions that can be imposed, and ways to reduce the number of parameters by means of a unitary transformation. We will then connect these with the boundary conditions that can be obtained in a continuum limit from the tight-binding model for electrons in
graphene.
