Talk by Bingying Lu

On May 8th, 2024, Bingying Lu (FernUniversität in Hagen) gave a talk about "Toda lattice, integrability and dispersive shock waves" as part of the research seminar Analysis of the FernUniversität in Hagen.

Abstract

Show Abstract

The Toda lattice, discovered by Toda in 1967 to exhibit similar dynamical features as the KdV equation, is one of the first confirmed completely integrable systems and the very first such spatially discrete model. Like other integrable models, the Toda Lattice possesses the so called Lax pair structure.
In particular, the Lax operator associated with the Toda Lattice is the Jacobi operator. In this talk, I would like to discuss some scattering and inverse scattering theory of the infinite Jacobi operator, special multi-solitons solutions (multi-traveling waves) for the Toda lattice and its connection to nonlinear dispersive shock waves (with new results based on joint work with Grava).
