Successful completion of seminar at Social Entrepreneurship on Campus in Berlin

[29.01.2026]

On 29 January 2026, the event ‘Social Entrepreneurship on Campus Berlin: Digital Competencies and Skills for the Social Economy’ took place at the Berlin campus of the FernUniversität in Hagen. The event marked the culmination of the seminar ‘Applied Digital Entrepreneurship’ in the winter semester 2025/26 and, at the same time, the launch of the FernUniversität's newly founded Start-up Centre. The aim was to bring together students, people interested in starting a business and established impact start-ups, and to promote exchange between academic teaching and start-up practice.

A central element of the evening was the Marketplace, where impact start-ups such as BetterKind, CityFlock, Climate Resource, ContextML and Lobby for Impact, as well as student innovation teams from the ‘Applied Digital Entrepreneurship’ seminar, presented their solutions. The programme was accompanied by keynote speeches on digital entrepreneurship and social innovation, as well as a panel discussion with representatives from the impact start-up scene.

The panel focused on the skills required for impact founders and concrete support approaches by universities and networks. It was moderated by Prof. Dr. Till Winkler and brought together perspectives from Constantin Schmutzler (Startups for Tomorrow), the founders of the participating start-ups and Sebastian Stukenkemper from the newly founded Startup Centre at FernUniversität.

A review of the event – including photos, videos and comments from participants – will be available shortly on the event page.
