Students complete the seminar "Gender Aspects in Information Systems" on campus

[16.02.2023]

After four months of virtual collaboration, the time had finally come: Last Saturday, 29 students from all over Germany and the world travelled to the campus of FernUniversität Hagen to complete the seminar "Gender Aspects in Information Systems".

Since early October, the participants have been developing and working on their own topics dealing with the gender gap in IT professions, gender bias in data and algorithms, as well as the gender-specific use of technologies and gender differences in digital entrepreneurship. The presented results and exciting discussions on Saturday highlighted the relevance and diverse research opportunities in this area. Therefore, we have decided to further develop the most promising seminar topics as part of our B*IMA research with the goal of publication. We are pleased that the FernUniversität Hagen will financially support the implementation of this idea by granting an internal research funding for one year.

Once again, we would like to thank all the participants who, over the past few months, have worked with great motivation, creativity, openness and energy on current social issues and who shared their experiences and perspectives at the final meeting.
