Brownbag Seminar with Guest Talk by Prof. Niels Bjørn-Andersen

[26.08.2021]

“Half of the IS academic research time is wasted on writing papers for scientific journals that nobody cares to read“ says Niels Bjørn-Andersen, Emeritus Professor at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark and author of more than 25 books and 200 articles.

Based on his long years of experience and part of our virtual Brownbag seminar series in May 2021, the expert spoke about current developments in information systems and argues that too much research is done for academic credit. Instead, he emphasizes that the focus should be on relevance, innovation and contributions to solve societal challenges.

In doing so, he not only gave a new perspective on their own research performance, but also presented a possible alternative for evaluating academic contributions.

After the talk, we had the chance to ask questions and to take part in interesting discussions.
