• Nils Mettenberger

Nils Mettenberger has been an external PhD student at the Chair of Business Administration, specialising in Information Management, at the FernUniversität in Hagen since June 2026.

As part of his studies, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (B.Sc.) at the University of Freiburg and a Master’s degree in Economics (M.Sc.) at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. He also attended London South Bank University, where he spent a semester abroad studying International Business and Management.

After completing his studies, he worked in information management for a large international wholesale company and now works as a consultant specialising in digital transformation projects.

Nils’s research focuses on the use of unauthorised AI systems in organisations. Building on this, his research examines suitable governance measures for the effective management of the identified usage patterns of AI systems.
