Dr. Semra Engelkamp

About

Dr. Semra Engelkamp, née Ersöz, is a licensed pharmacist and health scientist. Her research covers issues relating to patient-centered digitalization in pharmacies and the area of pharmaceutical care.

After initial professional positions in public pharmacy, where she gained extensive insights into patient care, supply structures and process optimization, Dr. Engelkamp completed her doctorate on digital transformation in pharmacies. Her work specifically examines the implementation of digital technologies, the use of patient-centered technologies, and their practical application.

As an academic collaborator, she expanded her methodological repertoire to include neurophysiological procedures such as EEG, fNIRS, and Facial Expression Analysis. These multidisciplinary approaches enable her to analyze user-centered developments from both a healthcare science and neuroscience perspective.

Her research focus areas lie particularly in the following fields:

  • Digital health literacy (DiGA) and supply evaluation
  • Digitalization of pharmaceutical services
  • Neuroscientific methods for user and behavioral analysis
  • Interfaces between technology, patient experience, and quality of care

Dr. Semra Engelkamp advocates for an integrative, interdisciplinary research approach that examines the potential of digital technologies in healthcare critically, evidence-based, and practice-oriented.
