Accompaniment of a Student Study Trip to Japanese Judicial Institutions

Deutsch

At the end of March 2024, Prof. Julius Weitzdörfer accompanied a student excursion organised by Prof. Henning Rosenau (Halle) together with lawyer Dr. Heike Alps, LL.M. (Chuo) on the topic of ‘Law and Society in Japan’. The excursion included visits to more than a dozen locations throughout Japan, including the parliament, courts, police stations, several universities and Japan's largest prison.

On this occasion, Prof. Weitzdörfer visited Dōshisha Law School in Kyoto again to conclude a partnership agreement with the Faculty of Law in Hagen. Thanks to the partnership and the new contacts established during the pilot trip with the judicial institutions visited, the study trips to Japan, which were very popular in the past, will be possible again for Hagen from 2025 onwards.

The Department of East Asian Law would like to thank Prof. Rosenau's chair and all partners for the opportunity to participate. Although it was not possible to take photos inside the court and prison, the photos linked below provide some impressions of the institutions visited.
