Social Software

Within the scope of our current research project Social Software we deal with the most recent eLearning-Tools and eLearning-Products within the field of Social Software and Open Education.

The constant diffusion of complex Information and Communication Technologies in an institutionalised educational context poses especially for Distance Education a fundamental change. Through investigation of the various possible applications of Social Software we attend to this kind of challenge to support learners as well as lecturers in practical learning situations.

The concrete results of our research activities concerning eLearning-Tools and eLearning-Products can be viewed here.

In Spring/Summer 2013 we have started in the area of Social Software for instance with two MOOC-Pilots: the dMOOC “Interdisziplinärer Diskurs zur digitalen Gesellschaft” (#iddg13; Interdisciplinary Discourse to Digital Society) and the cMOOC “Entdecke die Insel der Forschung” (#exif13; Discover the Island of Research).

Also the subject-matter “Augmented Learning” is in our exploratory focus. The Wikiade, the cross-faculties contest of the FernUniversität in Hagen, is also part of our Social Software Project!

Further activities like a Social Software Werkstatt (Social Software Workshop), a Lehrwerkstatt (Teaching Workshop) and a #FernUniCamp are also part of this project.
