Why preparing and processing study contents lonely and on your own?

The Wikiade is going to be implemented as an interdisciplinary contest of faculties at the FernUniversität in Hagen throughout Germany in winter semester 2015/2016. Distance learning provides plenty of opportunities and more freedom: The studies are location-independent. Even considering the few obligatory face-to-face meetings a distance learning degree course can be brought into line with family and work. In order to support distance learners in this learning process and to interrupt the perceived loneliness with the means of a collaborative exchange, the FernUniversität in Hagen provides the Wikiade.

With the Wikiade distance learners can prepare and process their study contents. In this winter semester 2015/2016 definitions from the Study Letters are going to be central:

Which central terms of your degree course can be found in your Study Letters? Write them into the Wikiade and discuss them with your fellow students. Explain these terms provided by students of other faculties with your own words and increase your own learning success at the same time.

Passing Challenges

Since creating wikis cannot be regarded a contest, small structured “tasks” will accompany the Wikionians through the contest of the Wikiade every two weeks and familiarise them with the challenges within a wiki as well as in a degree course. Small awards (badges) acknowledge the acquired skills. In the case of special challenges (tasks) a small material prize awaits the Wikionians. For instance, a photo and picture contest is to be put into action over New Year’s. Here every Wikionian can vote for a photo/picture.

Duration: 1st October 2015 to 31st March 2016

Participation: Students of all faculties and all employees of the FernUniversität in Hagen can participate.
