Joint Project Between the Data Science Department and the Fire Department of Hagen!

[25.03.2025]

Data analysis is set to improve the efficiency of emergency medical services in Hagen. Two students from the Data Science department are working closely with the fire department on innovative solutions.

Currently, two students at the Data Science department are completing their theses on the topics “Data-Driven Prediction of Emergency Call Frequency for Demand Planning in EMS” and “Data-Driven Isochrone Analysis for Accessibility Planning in EMS,” both of which were developed in collaboration with the fire and emergency services in Hagen.

The results of these projects are expected to help further optimize the operations of the Hagen Fire Department’s emergency medical services.

On January 17, the Fire Department of Hagen welcomed staff and students from the Data Science department for a kick-off meeting at the East Fire and Rescue Station. During a tour of the station, as well as through discussions and Q&A sessions, participants gained fascinating insights into the daily operations of emergency services—providing valuable input for the students' final projects.
