From Medicine to Food Production: Two New Publications

[20.03.2025]

Two recent scientific publications present new insights in the fields of life sciences and food manufacturing, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary research.

The first article, “Resolving Spatiotemporal Electrical Signaling Within the Islet via CMOS Microelectrode Arrays,” investigates electrical signal propagation within the pancreatic islets of Langerhans. Using high-resolution CMOS microelectrode arrays, researchers gained new insights into the interactions between individual β-cells. Particularly significant are the effects of excessive glucose exposure on the cells' electrical communication—an essential factor in insulin secretion.

The second study, “AI-driven Transformation in Food Manufacturing: A Pathway to Sustainable Efficiency and Quality Assurance,” examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on food production. The research demonstrates how AI-powered systems can optimize production processes, reduce waste, and promote sustainable practices. It also identifies key challenges in the implementation of AI technologies and outlines solutions for a future-oriented food industry.
