Third Research Day 2024 at the Data Science Department

[19.09.2024]

At the research day marking the end of the third quarter of the year, the Data Science team at the department engaged in discussions around their individual research focuses. As part of her doctoral project, Ms. Holtkemper presented on the risks that stakeholders in data science projects must manage and explored the potential of automation frameworks to help mitigate these risks.

Together, the team discussed and reflected on how the challenges in selecting appropriate automation frameworks can be addressed, especially in contexts where data science expertise is lacking or insufficient. The discussion also covered how such frameworks could be used as supportive tools under these conditions.

In the afternoon, the "Data Science Colloquium" took place once again, jointly organized by the three departments: Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Databases and Information Systems.

Each department contributed a talk on a current research topic ("A Set-Based Approach to Abstract Dialectical Framework Semantics", "Indexing Metric Spaces", and "End-to-End Data Quality Optimizer"), offering insights into ongoing research activities. The event concluded with opportunities for in-depth discussions on the presented topics and for general professional (and personal) exchange.
