Data Science Project Workshop at the 2024 Informatics Festival in Wiesbaden

[12.11.2024]

This year, we were pleased to participate in the Informatics Festival 2024 hosted by RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden with our workshop “Data Science Projects: From Research to Application.” As part of our research project DS3W, the workshop focused on examining the full lifecycle of data science projects—from scientific conceptualization to practical implementation.

Participants had the opportunity not only to discuss data analysis and machine learning but also to engage with real-world problems and case studies. The goal was to explore how data science solutions can be effectively integrated into existing business processes.

Three exciting contributions were presented during the workshop:

  • Automated Predictive Analytics in Baggage Handling
    (Finn Dohrn and Marina Tropmann-Frick)

  • Comparison of Classifiers for Eye-Tracking Data
(Jennifer Landes, Meike Klettke, Sonja Köppl)

  • Development of an AI System for Automated Animal Welfare Checks in Pig Slaughtering
(Christian Beecks, Alexander Graß, Anandraj Amalraj, Marc Jentsch, Felix Kitschke, Maximilian Norz, Patric Schäffer)
    – presented by Rüdiger Brecht.

All contributions were published in the official proceedings of the Informatics Festival. We sincerely thank all participants for the stimulating discussions and valuable exchange on how data science is applied in practice and the impact it has across different industries.
