M.A. Educational sciences — Modul C3 — Digitally Competent Educators (in cooperation with the University of Jyväskylä)
Offered in winter and summer semesters.
Abstract
Digitally Competent Educators (DCE for short) is an international course for educators in various areas of education, which students of the M.A. Educational Science with a focus on digital media or adult/continuing education can also have recognized as an international compulsory elective module. With the aim of further developing digital (teaching & learning) skills, the course consists of three modules with different focuses that cover all six areas of competences within the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) published by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
The three modules of this English course can be taken individually, consecutively or simultaneously — however, it is recommended to take them in chronological order.
All submodules start in the spring and fall semesters but are not linked to the regular semester times of the FernUniversität in Hagen.
The enrolment runs via the Moodle platform of the Finnish University of Jyväskylä. To be able to register, you need a valid identification document (personal ID card or passport).

Submodule 1: Introduction into digital skills
This submodule is supervised by Prof. Dr. Eva Cendon and Magda Zarebski from the Department of Adult and Continuing Education at the FernUniversität in Hagen as well as Dr. Sanna Juutinen from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and is part of an international teaching cooperation.
Submodule 2: Teaching and learning with digital media
This submodule is supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet FIRAT and Dr. Aysun GÜNEŞ from the Anadolu University in Turkey and Dr. Sanna Juutinen from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and is part of an international teaching cooperation.
Submodule 3: Promotion and assessment of the digital competences of learners
This submodule is supervised by Prof. Dr. Glória Bastos and Dr. João Paz from the University Aberta in Portugal and Dr. Sanna Juutinen from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and is part of an international teaching cooperation.
