About the Research Cluster "Digital Health"

The research cluster Digital Health focuses on digital transformation in the healthcare sector. By integrating various disciplinary perspectives, it concentrates on researching the challenges and opportunities associated with digitalization in this context. Through close collaborations with researchers and practitioners across various fields of healthcare, the research cluster creates high potential for direct transfer into the healthcare sector.

The research cluster emerged in 2025 from the former „Institut für Arbeit – Bildung – Digitalisierung (ABD)” (Institute for Work, Education, and Digitalization) that received seed funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (2022-2024). Research in ABD focused on the digital transformation in the world of work, especially on consequences for work design and skill development. Researchers examined questions regarding the digital transformation in four different sectors: public administration, private economy, education, and healthcare. The healthcare sector proved to provide the greatest potential for interdisciplinary collaboration and attracted promising scholars across the university.
