Basic Structure

Fields

The WED research projects are divided into four key research and application areas: the economy, education, health and administration.

Cross-cutting Issues

In addition, there are a further four interdisciplinary fields: leadership, agile working, knowledge transfer & continuing education, innovation und start-ups.

Inter- and transdisciplinarity

The WED’s research is fundamentally interdisciplinary: it draws on perspectives from areas such as business administration, (occupational) soziology, (occupational) psychology, (business) informatics and law as well as various educational science and educational technology approaches. In addition to the interdisciplinary nature of the research, transdisciplinary dialog with the application fields also reflects the research center’s orientation on knowledge transfer. The aim is to develop scientifically sound approaches to solutions for the digital challenges of the working world and contribute to the development of competences in various sectors.

Key Questions

The overarching key questions are:

  • How is the digital revolution affecting the world of work?
  • Which effects and requirements is this creating in the various sectors and industries?
  • What implications arise for skills development?

Key questions for the cross-cutting issues:

  • What does the digital revolution mean for management and agile working?
  • How can start-ups foster innovation?
  • How is personnel and organizational development changing?
  • What findings can be derived for the methods used in knowledge-transfer-oriented research?
