Stefan Strecker is Full Professor at the University of Hagen in Germany where he
holds the Endowed Chair of Information Systems Development and heads the Enterprise Modelling Research Group.
His research and teaching focus is on Conceptual and Enterprise Modelling and its applications to managerial analyses and decision-making. He has contributed to devising, designing and specifying a number of domain-specific modelling languages and modelling methods in the domains of, for example, organisational performance measurement, risk assessment, and auditing.
From 2016 to 2019, Professor Strecker acts as the chairman of the Business Informatics section (1,200 members from academia and industry) of the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik) .
He has revived 'Enterprise Modelling and Information Systems Architectures - International Journal of Conceptual Modeling' (EMISAJ), a scholarly peer-reviewed open access journal, as Editor-in-Chief (https://emisa-journal.org) and serves on the editorial board of Business & Information System Engineering (BISE).
Involved in numerous scientific conferences and workshops, he acts as program co-chair of the 20th IEEE International Conference on Business Informatics (IEEE CBI 2018), and has held appointments as track chair and member of the programme committee of workshops and conferences in the field of enterprise modelling.

Research Foci

  • Enterprise Modelling, particularly the design and evaluation of domain-specific modelling languages, corresponding modelling methods, method engineering, multi-perspective (reference) enterprise models, and modelling and analysis tools.
  • Enterprise Systems, specfically (reference) enterprise models as a foundation for designing, implementing, evaluating, and using enterprise software systems.
  • Business Process Management and Enterprise Architecture Management
  • Research methods and philosophy of science (of Wirtschaftsinformatik)
