- Abstract:
Wearables, small electronic devices worn on the body, represent a growing segment in Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) and offer significant opportunities to improve daily life and promote healthy, independent aging among older individuals. Despite their potential to support aging, the adoption rate within this demographic remains low. Following the findings of technology acceptance research this study examines factors influencing the intention to use wearables and barriers faced during actual use based on a comprehensive literature review. The findings identify 12 key factors affecting usage intention and two overarching usage barriers faced by older adults. This study provides actionable recommendations to enhance wearable adoption among older adults, aiming to leverage these technologies for better health and independence in later life.
