Since the late Middle Ages until at least the 19th century catholic missionaries produced information about the native peoples of the extra European world and published reports that circulated especially in Europe. These reports were neither objective descriptions of the field nor just propaganda. This presentation explores the complexities of missionary knowledge recovering its multifaceted dimension in the Borderlands of the Iberian World.
