The energy transition in your own home?! The research goal of the project ZidiNaKo is to get private households in Oberhausen involved in the energy turnaround and to change people’s everyday lives in the process. The research network consisting of the FernUniversität in Hagen and the energy provider evo in Oberhausen (under the direction of Fraunhofer UMSICHT) is redirecting attention away from the technical prerequisites and looking at people’s everyday energy use. How much do local people understand about their own energy usage? What are their situations and stories? The insights that the researchers gain will be used to develop new communication formats and narratives for private households. The results of this research will be developed to enable players involved in the energy transition, companies and local authorities to convey practical know-how in a more targeted manner. Under the leadership of Dr. Julia-Lena Reinermann, the team at the FernUniversität in Hagen is focused primarily on the analysis of media reporting and the planning and implementation of the Photovoice. The aim is to identify media narratives and discover those of local citizens. The consortium is being sponsored by the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and the NRW Consumer Association. The project has been financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action since March 2023. The financing period is three years.
