My research focuses on international energy and financial markets as well as analyses of the interdependencies between energy markets and macroeconomic developments. A current research project examines the relationship between energy consumption, macroeconomic activity and climate change.
As part of a joint project with the U.S. Department of Enerby, I investigated the relationship between exchange rate dynamics and oil prices. Moreover, I am interested to find out to what extent the media coverage is responsible for price fluctuations in energy markets.
My future research will also focus on modeling uncertainty and expectation formation in energy markets. This includes, for example, the question of which factors determine uncertainty in energy markets, and the macroeconomic effects that arise from this type of uncertainty.
