The Society of Friends of the FernUniversität (Gesellschaft der Freunde der FernUniversität e.V.) has supported both the academic as well as the social and cultural activities of the university since 1978.
The society provides support for academic conferences and symposia. The Friends of the FernUniversität are there when excellent graduates receive honors and prizes or when scholarships are awarded to outstanding students. They also support the FernUniversität’s regional and study centers, in particular those in central and eastern Europe.
The Society of Friends of the FernUniversität counts a wide variety of people from all areas of society among its members, including researchers and scholars, former FernUniversität students, and supporters in industry and business.
