Virtual Mobility

Do you want to study at a university abroad but do not want to miss out on the flexibility offered by distance learning? The FernUniversität’s virtual mobility program offers you just that. It’s a great chance to get to know your field of study from a different perspective and enrich your studies by experiencing a different university culture – and not only that: you can do it in a manner that doesn’t involve excessive expense or use of resources.

 

Offers for Students at the FernUniversität – Outgoings

For certain study courses, the FernUniversität has organized collaborations with partner universities abroad that will allow you to study selected content and have this credited to your home study program.

  • Students in this B.A. program can take selected module packages offered by the Spanish distance university within the framework of a cooperation with the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). If they successfully pass the examination, they can have them recognized as modules for their B.A. PAS.

    Term time at UNED:

    • Summer semester: 15 February until 14 July
    • Winter semester: 1 October until 10 February

    Requirements:

    • Proof of at least 60 ECTS earned in the B.A. PAS degree program
    • Spanish language skills at a level of at least B1 (please provide an appropriate certificate/attestation or similar)

    Applications and deadlines:

    • Every semester, up to 5 students from the B.A. PAS program will have a chance to participate in the virtual study abroad program at UNED as part of the cooperation
    • Application deadline for the winter semester: 1 June
    • Application deadline for the summer semester: 1 December

  • Students of the Bachelor of Laws program in the Faculty of Law can make use of the faculty’s long-established partnership network and take elective modules at a distance-learning university abroad.

    The corresponding module should comprise at least 10 ECTS and conclude with an examination graded according to the ECTS system. This module then replaces an elective module.

 

Offers for Students from Partner Universities – Incomings

Are you interested in studying specific content at the FernUniversität as part of an exchange program? In the following list, you can see an overview of the exchange programs offered at the FernUniversität in the respective departments.

  • As part of a cooperation between the FernUniversität in Hagen and the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), students at the UNED can take two modules of the FernUni’s Bachelor’s program in Political Science, Administration, and Sociology.

    The following modules are offered (teaching language is German):

    Term time at the FernUniversität in Hagen:

    • Summer semester: 1 April to 30 September
    • Winter semester: 1 October to 31 March

    Requirements:

    • Proof of at least 60 ECTS earned in the B.A. Political Science and Administration program or the B.A. Sociology program at UNED
    • German language skills at a level of at least B1 (please provide an appropriate certificate/attestation or similar)

    Applications and deadlines:

    • Every semester, up to 5 students from the B.A. programs “Political Science and Administration” and “Sociology” will have a chance to participate in the virtual study abroad program at the FernUniversität in Hagen as part of the cooperation

    • Application deadline for the summer semester: 1 December

  • Students at the Open Universiteit, Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, and the Open University UK who fulfill certain criteria can take courses from the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program offered by the Faculty of Law at the FernUniversität and take the corresponding exams.

    In addition, students from EDELNet’s partner universities and the University of Wrocław have the opportunity to take the following English-language module:

    Requirements:

    The requirements for participation in the program as well as the possibility of receiving credit in the home study program vary depending on the partner university. Some modules are only open to students who have already taken certain courses in advance.

  • The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics offers international students the opportunity to take selected English-language modules. Each module has a workload of 300 hours and is weighted at 10 ECTS credits. The modules are selected from accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree programs offered by the faculty. Upon request, a certificate can be issued upon completion.
