Prof. Dr. Angela Durrough

Prof. Dr. Angela Dorrough has been Chair of Behavioral Economics and Intercultural Psychology in the Faculty of Psychology at the FernUniversität in Hagen since 2024. The chair was established as part of a grant from the German Research Foundation’s Heisenberg Program.

Angela Dorrough studied Economics as well as Comparative Literature and Cultural Sciences and Psychology in Bonn. She attained her doctorate in Psychology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 2017. In 2022, she completed her post-doc (Habilitation) at the University of Cologne.

In addition to working as a research assistant at the universities of Bonn, Göttingen and Siegen, she also worked as a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods (since 2026: Max Planck Institute for Behavioural Economics) in Bonn from 2015 to 2017. From 2016 to 2018 she also worked as a research assistant in the chair of General Psychology – Judgement, Decision-making, Action at the FernUniversität. In 2018, she transferred to the University of Cologne. Alongside her professorship at the FernUniversität she is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Social Cognition Center at the University of Cologne.

Angela Dorrough's research has been recognized with a number of awards, including the Leo Spitzer Prize for Early-career Researchers from the University of Cologne, in 2025 she won the Anti-Corruption Research Challenge organized by the OECD. She is an expert analyst for more than 30 international professional journals and a member of the board of the European universities alliance OpenEU.

At the FernUniversität, her roles include serving as a DFG liaison lecturer, deputy chair of the Ethics Committee, head of the Open Science Initiative, and a member of the doctoral committee of the Faculty of Psychology.

Since 1 Juy 2026, Prof. Dr. Angela Dorrough has been Vice-President for Research and Internationalization.
