Abstract:

The research presented in this dissertation proposal aims at designing, developing, evaluating and studying a web-based modeling platform to support the learning of conceptual modeling and of studying the corresponding learning processes. More specifically, this research project is situated in a distance learning and teaching context and pursues the primary objective of creating a learning and teaching software for guiding and supporting the learning of conceptual modeling and of providing the instructor with means to observe individual and aggregate learning processes. Learner interaction with graphical model editors is tracked and analytics allow for insights at the individual and aggregate learner levels.
