New Deadline: Education in Times of Crises and Transformation

Educational organizations in times of multiple crises: Covid, climate, wars - what do all these developments mean for educational institutions? And what role do educational technologies play for schools and universities in this context? A workshop at the congress of the Swiss Sociological Association will address these questions. The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 15, 2024.

Educational organizations in times of multiple crises: Covid, climate, wars - what do all these developments mean for educational institutions? And what role do educational technologies play for schools and universities in this context? A workshop at the congress of the Swiss Sociological Association from September 9-11, 2024 in Basel will address these questions. The participants are invited through a call for abstracts (PDF 131 KB).

The workshop is initiated and led by CATALPA member Len Ole Schäfer and Philippe Saner from the University of Lucerne. Contributions from organizational sociology, sociology of education, higher education research, and further perspectives that address the following and other related questions, can be submitted. The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 15, 2024:

  • What is the relationship between resilience and vulnerability in educational organizations in the context of multiple crises and transformations?
  • What is the relationship between vulnerability and crisis anticipation in educational contexts?
  • How can we prepare for future crises? How can they be anticipated and what is the role of educational organizations?
  • How can schools and universities support the resilience of their members in the face of multiple crises and transformations?
  • To what extent do digital technologies in (higher) education produce vulnerability of individuals or, conversely, can they counteract it?
