CATALPA Graduate School
Structured and interdisciplinary doctoral program

CATALPA supports early-career researchers with a structured, interdisciplinary doctoral program. Hereby the research center ensures high quality and ideal conditions for doctoral studies. The doctoral program focuses on four core elements within a generally three-year, partially structured framework:
- Research and scientific integrity
- Individual organization & career development
- Collaboration & networking
- Supervision
The first three core elements ensure the best possible qualifications for science and practice. Seminars, workshops, and coaching sessions support doctoral candidates in their development in the areas of research & scientific integrity, individual organization & career development, and collaboration & networking. Particular attention is paid to promoting interdisciplinary research and further developing scientific quality in order to achieve individual research success.
The fourth core element covers the area of supervision. Doctoral candidates are supervised by CATALPA members and external professors and introduced to the interdisciplinary research community. Supervision includes standardized, transparent processes, interdisciplinary supervision by multiple mentors, and the conclusion of supervision agreements.
Coordination
At the beginning of their membership at CATALPA Graduate School, doctoral candidates are invited to a welcome meeting where all relevant information about rights and obligations is explained, as well as the structures within the program.
Throughout the doctoral program, there is always the opportunity to meet with the program coordinators for exchange and consultation in order to discuss questions, suggestions, and challenges in a timely manner.
