What is my role within CATALPA?

Together with my group I investigate which factors support successful learning and development in school, higher education, and less institutionalized educational contexts such as international student mobility. Thereby, we acknowledge the characteristic multi-level nature of educational processes by addressing factors at the level of the individual learner (e.g. competences, motivation, personality, sociodemographic factors), the group level (e.g. group composition, teacher characteristics, teaching quality) and the institutional level (e.g. educational reforms, curricular changes).

Why CATALPA?

CATALPA offers an excellent environment for my research in adaptive collaborative learning environments by providing easy collaboration with scientists from other disciplines. CATALPA’s special services for junior researchers greatly support the professional development and scientific career of my staff. My personal goal is to help improve learning and teaching practice not only in my own teaching but also in other disciplines by providing methods and technology for implementing effective adaptive personalized and collaborative learning environments.
