Die Fakultät für Mathematik und Informatik ist im April 2006 durch Zusammenschluss der Fachbereiche für Mathematik, Informatik sowie Elektro- und Informationstechnik gebildet worden.
Seit der Gründung hatte die Fakultät für Mathematik und Informatik mehrere Dekane, Prodekane und Studiendekane an der Spitze.
